Stayed out the back for one night. On the day we arrived the Ladies of the Gulf were having a social gathering, hilarious. Had dinner, awesome feed. Good spot to stay.

Easy drive from Doomadgee (in dry weather) and an unexpected oasis in the middle of nowhere.
Great stop over... basic accommodation but clean and comfy, cold beers, friendly faces, good food.

Everything, we recommend the lot. We used to live in Doomadgee and have since moved to KUNUNURRA in WA. Hells Gate Roadhouse was just up the road, and the best place to chill out, meet and greet great people, enjoy a drink and have a chat with anyone and everyone, even work behind the counter in the kitchen making burgers, chips and salad, why we did it all. John, Lynn, Scott and family and all those employed there made us and everyone welcome and thoroughly relaxed. Having visited many times, stayed at the accommodation, camped at, drunk at, played at, Bbq’d at, even worked in the workshop, Hells Gate is the best kept secret and place to be at in North Western Qld. I first went there in 1986 and we still go there and have even more reasons to stop over. Thanks for making Michele and I always feel like part of the place - relaxed, well catered for and satisfied on all fronts.

Awesome place and great people. Wish we could of stayed longer. All amenities are clean and it's a fun friendly safe place to bring your family. Ask Tim to show you his duck caller he makes and what he can do with some flames and leds. We had a great time and were sad to leave

Wow! An oasis in the middle of nowhere. Green grass, excellent amenities, great staff and only $12 per person unpowered camping. Lovely meal, definitely welcomed after a days driving. Well worth stopping here for a break. Well done to the owners!!!

Fantastic spot - a real oasis with the best grass for hundreds of kilometres. Brilliant staff, clean facilities, great grub & an unreal spot to stay for the night or longer 😊 Thanks to Tim for assisting in mechanical repairs to get us going again - much appreciated 👍🏼 We’ll be back.

Fantastic people, comfy cabins, excellent desserts, the best lawn in 500kms (excellent for walking on barefoot), great atmosphere at the bar - plus a crocodile foot - what's not to like???

Great camping spot that’s super tidy, green n great food n the owners and staff were amazing n go out of their way to help us out n accommodate us when our trailer was broken. Recommend anyone going that way to stop in .

Great roadhouse friendly owners simple but adequate caravan park, limited powered sites but the staff try and keep the grass green
with plenty water which they have a good clean tasting supply. They also have motel units and dongers for the standard traveller.
